Giant Pump Parts and Repair Kits

Giant Industries triplex pumps rebuild well, which is why so many of them are still running after 15 years. We carry Giant pump parts for the P200, P300, P400, P55W and P56W, P58, and HR series: packing kits, oil seal kits, valve kits, plungers, and the odd bits like sight glasses and bearings. Read the model number off the pump label and call 301-519-9274. We will match the kit before you order.

Match the Kit to Your Giant Pump Model First

Every Giant repair part is series specific. A P300 packing kit will not seal a P420, and plunger diameters change across the line, 12mm on a P31, 16mm on a P223 or P54W, 18mm on the P430 through P450, 25mm on a P420. The model number is stamped on the data plate on the pump crankcase. If the plate is gone, measure the plunger diameter and count the head bolts, then call us. Ordering by guesswork is how a $99 kit turns into two return shipments and a week of downtime.

Which Kit Fixes Which Problem

Three kit families handle nearly every Giant pump failure. Packing kits fix low or fading pressure caused by worn plunger packings. Valve kits fix chattering, pulsing, and pressure that drops under load because a check valve is no longer seating. Oil seal kits fix milky crankcase oil and oil weeping down the back of the manifold. If the plunger surface itself is scored from sand or a dry run, packings alone will not hold and you need the plunger too. New packings on a scored plunger last weeks, not seasons.

Giant 9119 plunger packing kit, replacement Giant pump parts for P316 P317 P319

From the Field

Two notes straight from our own parts counter. First, some Giant valve kits do not cover the whole pump. The 9041 kit for the P55W and P56W takes two kits per pump, and customers who order one end up stalled mid-rebuild waiting on the second. Check the kit contents against your valve count before you tear down. Second, the cheap kits matter most. A $7 oil seal kit installed the first time you see milky oil saves the crankshaft and bearings. The expensive rebuilds we see almost always started as a seal job somebody put off.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where do I find the model number on a Giant pump?

On the data plate riveted or stuck to the crankcase. It lists the model, serial, and ratings. If the plate is missing, measure the plunger diameter and call us with photos of the head. We can usually identify the series from the manifold shape.

How many valve kits does one Giant pump need?

It depends on the series. Some kits service the whole head, but the 9041 kit for the P55W and P56W covers half the valves, so those pumps need two kits. Read the kit note in the listing or ask before ordering.

What is the difference between a plunger and a plunger complete?

A plunger is just the ceramic wear sleeve that the packings ride on. A plunger complete, like the 8413 for the P31, includes the assembly hardware. If the base or hardware is corroded, buy the complete unit and save yourself a second teardown.

How long should Giant pump packings last?

With clean, filtered water and steady oil changes, several hundred hours is normal. Sandy source water, dry starts, or long stretches in bypass can wipe out packings in a month. If yours keep failing early, fix the water supply problem first or the new kit will follow the old one.

What do weep seals actually do?

Weep seals on kits like the 9061 and 9089 for the P56W and P55W give leaking water a controlled escape path so it drips away instead of pushing into the crankcase oil. A slight weep is an early warning, not an emergency. A stream means service the packings now.

Can I put Giant parts in another brand of pump?

No. Giant, General Pump, CAT, AR, and Comet all use their own dimensions and thread specs. The kits are not interchangeable across brands even when the pumps look alike. Call 301-519-9274 and we will pull the correct part for whatever pump you actually have.
