Hex Bushings
A hex bushing steps a fitting down from one thread size to a smaller one. The male end threads into the larger port, the female end accepts the smaller part, and the hex body gives your wrench a solid grip.
How to Choose
Note the larger thread size and the smaller size you need to reach. Then choose brass for standard water plumbing, stainless steel for chemical and coastal use, or plated steel for high pressure. The bushing should be rated at or above your machine's maximum PSI.
Common Applications
- Adapting a pump port down to a smaller hose
- Connecting accessories with smaller threads
- Reducing manifold and unloader ports
- Fitting gauges and valves to larger openings
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between a bushing and a reducer?
A hex bushing is male on the outside and female on the inside, so it nests inside a larger fitting. A reducing coupler is female on both ends. The bushing is the more compact way to step down.
How do I order one?
List the larger size first, then the smaller size, for example 3/4 inch to 1/2 inch. Call us if you are unsure.
Will the hex body fit a standard wrench?
Yes. The hex shape is made to be tightened with a common wrench for a leak-free seal.
