How a Triplex Pump Wears, and What to Replace

Every triplex pump wears in the same four places. Water enters through the inlet valves, gets pushed by three ceramic plungers sliding through packing seals, and exits through the outlet valves. Packings wear first on most pumps. Valves go second, usually from debris or cavitation. Plungers last for years unless the pump runs dry or the oil goes bad. Match the symptom to the wear point and you know which kit to order.
