Pressure Washer Nozzles
A twenty dollar nozzle decides how well a five thousand dollar rig cleans. Sun Brite Supply carries pressure washer nozzles in every format contractors run: quick connect tips, MEG threads, rotating turbo heads, soap nozzles, and steam tips, all sized to your machine at our Gaithersburg, MD counter. Not sure which orifice you need? Call 301-519-9274 with your GPM and PSI and we will do the math for you.
How to Read Pressure Washer Nozzle Numbers
Every standard tip carries a four or five digit code. The first two digits are the spray angle in degrees. The rest is the orifice size. A 2504 nozzle sprays a 25 degree fan through a size 4.0 orifice. A 15055 sprays 15 degrees through a 5.5. The orifice number roughly equals the GPM the nozzle flows at 4,000 PSI, which is why a 4 GPM machine usually wears a 4.0 tip. Learn to read that code and you can walk up to any wall of nozzles and pick the right one in ten seconds.
Nozzle Colors and Spray Angles
Red 0 degree tips concentrate the full force of the machine on a dime-sized spot. They cut grease off steel and they also cut wood, mortar, and skin, so most pros leave them in the box. Yellow 15 degree tips strip paint and heavy grime. Green 25 degree tips are the everyday workhorse for concrete and equipment. White 40 degree tips spread the water wide for siding, windows, and rinsing. Black 65 degree soap tips have an oversized orifice that drops system pressure so your downstream injector can pull chemical.
Orifice Size Is Where Money Gets Wasted
Angle picks the pattern. Orifice picks the pressure, and this is the number people get wrong. Run a tip one size too small and pressure spikes past what the machine is rated for, the engine bogs, and the unloader dumps into bypass. Run a tip too big and you can watch 500 PSI disappear with no leak anywhere. Match the orifice to your pump's GPM at your target PSI using a nozzle chart, or call us and we will look it up. One more trap: surface cleaners split flow across their nozzles. A 4 GPM machine feeding a two-nozzle bar needs two 2.0 tips, not two 4.0 tips.
Turbo Nozzles Earn Their Price
A rotating turbo nozzle spins a 0 degree jet in a fast cone, so you get the cutting force of a red tip with close to the coverage of a green one. On dirty concrete a turbo can cut your time on the surface roughly in half. Two rules keep them alive. Feed them filtered water, because one grain of sand in the rotor seat will kill the spin. And keep them off wood and painted surfaces, where that spinning jet chews lines you cannot rinse away.

From the Field
We stock turbo nozzle repair kits because the same failure walks in every week: a $400 rotating nozzle that quit spinning after somebody ran it without a filter. A $55 inline screen would have saved it. The other quiet money leak is worn orifices. High pressure water erodes the opening a little every hour, and a tip that started as a 4.0 slowly becomes a 4.5. Your gauge reads a few hundred PSI low, you blame the pump, and the real fix is a $19 nozzle kit. If your pressure has drifted down and the pump checks out, change the tip first.

Frequently Asked Questions
What do the numbers on a pressure washer nozzle mean?
The first two digits are the spray angle in degrees and the remaining digits are the orifice size. A 2504 tip is a 25 degree fan with a 4.0 orifice, sized for a machine flowing about 4 GPM at 4,000 PSI.
What size nozzle does my pressure washer need?
Match the orifice to your pump's GPM and rated PSI on a nozzle chart. As a shortcut, the orifice number is close to your GPM if you run near 4,000 PSI. Undersizing overloads the machine and oversizing bleeds off pressure.
Which nozzle is best for cleaning concrete?
A green 25 degree tip handles routine concrete. For gum, tire marks, and years of grime, a rotating turbo nozzle cleans faster because it combines a 0 degree jet with wide coverage. Most flatwork pros run a surface cleaner plus a turbo for edges.
Is a red 0 degree nozzle safe to use?
It concentrates the machine's full force on a tiny point, so it gouges wood, etches concrete, and causes most nozzle injuries. Use it only for spot work on hard metal or thick crud, and never near people or pets.
Why is my soap nozzle not pulling detergent?
Downstream injectors only draw chemical at low pressure. The black 65 degree soap tip has an oversized orifice that drops the pressure enough for the injector to open. If soap still will not flow, check the injector, the check ball, and the chemical line for clogs.
How often should nozzles be replaced?
When your pressure drops about 10 percent with no other cause. The orifice wears open with use, and hard water or abrasive debris speeds it up. Heavy users swap tips a few times a season, which is why the 5 pack kits exist.
What is the difference between MEG and quick connect nozzles?
Same spray tip, different mount. MEG nozzles thread in with a 1/4 inch pipe thread and live in surface cleaners, water brooms, and fixed nozzle holders. Quick connect tips snap into a coupler on your gun or lance so you can change patterns in seconds.
