Deck space on a rig is billable space. A stacking kit bolts one hose reel above another, so your pressure line and supply line ride in a single footprint instead of two. Matching a Stack Kit to Your Reels

Stack kits are brand specific. The bolt pattern on a General Pump Stackrack lines up with GP A-frame reels in the 150', 300', and 450' sizes, and the stainless version does the same for SS A-frames. AR reels use their own kits, the Centurion stainless stacking kit and the Gladiator powder coat kit, both available for pre-order. Mixing brands in one stack usually means drilling, and drilled frames are where rust starts.

Two planning notes from the counter. Put the heavy, most-used reel on the bottom. A loaded 450' reel of 3/8" hose is a lot of weight to crank at shoulder height, and a low center of gravity matters on a trailer. And buy mounting hardware when you buy the kit. Kits bolt to whatever surface you have, so fasteners are not included. Grade the bolts for road vibration and use nylon lock nuts.

Will a stack kit fit any two hose reels?

No. Bolt patterns differ by brand and frame style. GP Stackracks fit GP A-frame reels, AR kits fit Centurion and Gladiator reels. Match the kit to the reel brand or plan on drilling.

Which reel goes on top?

The lighter or less-used one. Keep the loaded high pressure reel low so you are not cranking heavy hose at shoulder height, and so the trailer keeps a low center of gravity.

Do stacking kits come with bolts?

No, because mounting surfaces vary from wood decks to steel trailer frames. Use bolts rated for road vibration with washers and nylon lock nuts, stainless if the rig sees chemical.

Can I stack three reels?

Two is the practical limit for most rigs. A third reel puts the crank out of reach and the weight up high. If you need more line capacity, step up to larger reels before you build a tower.
