Understanding Pressure Washer Pumps

Common Pressure Washer Pump Problems

Loss of Pressure

Most common symptom. Worn seals allow water to bypass high-pressure chamber, resulting in pressure loss. We rebuild pump with new seals and internal components.

Pump Cavitation

Air enters pump inlet. Symptoms include chattering sounds and vibration. Causes include low water supply, plugged inlet filter, or worn inlet seals. We diagnose source and repair.

Pump Leaks

Small leaks at seal points usually require seal replacement. Leaks from pump body indicate internal damage requiring complete pump rebuild or replacement.

Reduced Flow (Low GPM)

Our Pump Repair & Rebuild Process

1. Pressure and Flow Testing

Test pump under load to measure PSI and GPM output. This tells us immediately if pump is failing and to what degree.

2. Pump Removal and Disassembly

Carefully remove and completely disassemble pump. Inspect every component for wear and damage.

3. Part Evaluation

Pistons, valve plates, seals, and bearings inspected under magnification. Some parts reused; others must be replaced.

4. Component Replacement

Replace all worn seals, damaged pistons, and worn bearings. Use OEM parts and reliable aftermarket equivalents.

5. Reassembly and Testing

Reassemble pump with proper torque specifications. Test on bench load before reinstalling in machine.

6. Final Verification

Run complete pressure washer under load. Verify pressure, flow, and noise levels. Document and verify repair success.
