Why Aluminum and Stainless Steel Matter for Chemical Rigs

The chemicals used in soft washing and chemical application are extremely corrosive to common metals. Sodium hypochlorite at 10 to 12.5 percent concentration attacks brass, carbon steel, and even some grades of stainless steel. The combination of aluminum frame and stainless steel plumbing addresses both the external exposure (spray drift, spills, and humid chemical environment on the trailer) and the internal exposure (concentrated chemical flowing through the fluid path).

Aluminum does not rust. Period. Spray as much SH on it as you want, leave it sitting in humid air, park it outside year-round. The frame will not corrode. It may oxidize slightly on the surface, which actually forms a protective layer, but it will not rust, flake, or deteriorate the way a painted steel reel frame does.

Stainless steel plumbing resists the internal chemical attack that destroys brass swivels and fittings. A brass swivel on a chemical reel might last a few months before it starts leaking. A stainless swivel on the same reel will last for years.

U-Channel Mount Installation

The U-channel mounting system gives you flexibility in how and where you mount this reel on your trailer or skid. The U-channel bracket bolts to your trailer deck or frame rail, and the reel drops into the channel and secures with pins or bolts. This makes it easy to remove the reel for maintenance, cleaning, or winter storage without unbolting a permanent mount.

The U-channel also allows you to adjust the reel position on the trailer as your rig configuration changes. If you rearrange your tank layout or add equipment, you can slide the reel to a new position without drilling new mounting holes.

What Hose Goes on This Reel

This reel is designed for soft wash hose and chemical delivery hose, not high-pressure washer hose. Common hose types used with this reel include polybraid chemical hose for downstream and soft wash delivery, Kuri-Tec style soft wash hose, low-pressure chemical transfer hose, and garden-style supply hose for rinse applications.
