EPDM Bearing and Brake for Hose Reels, Part 6329-1-1

A tired bearing and brake is why a drum either spins free and bird nests your hose or drags so hard that every pull feels like work. This EPDM bearing and brake, part number 6329-1-1, fits 112 and 117 series reels along with the small series reels. Putting a fresh one in brings the feel of the reel back to where it started. It is one of the quickest fixes on a reel that has gone sloppy.

Features

  • Bearing and brake combined in one part, number 6329-1-1
  • EPDM rubber build for a piece that lives in the wet
  • Made to drop into 112 and 117 series reels
  • Covers the small series reels as well
  • Puts drag back so the spool halts when your pull halts
  • Ends the overspin behind tangles, kinks and flat spots

Fitment and Setting the Drag

Read the number off the old piece before anything else. Reels inside one family can carry different brake hardware depending on the year they were built, so the family name alone will not settle it. Number 6329-1-1 covers the 112 and 117 series plus the small series, and that is the list to check yours against.

Once the new one is seated, dial the drag to where the drum coasts roughly a quarter turn after you quit pulling. Tighter than that and you fight the reel all day, which wears the hose cover on the roller. Looser and the drum keeps rolling after you stop, which is exactly how a spool turns into a nest. Recheck the setting after the first week, since a fresh rubber piece beds in and the feel shifts a little.

Common Questions

Which reels take this piece?

112 and 117 series reels, plus the small series reels.

What is it made of?

EPDM.

How can I tell mine is worn out?

Free spinning after you release the hose, a drum that binds mid pull, or drag that will not hold a setting all point at a used up bearing and brake.
