A bulkhead fitting is what lets you run a threaded connection through the wall of a water or chemical tank without leaking. The body passes through a drilled hole, a gasket seals against the tank wall, and a lock nut clamps it tight from the inside. You get a female pipe thread on both sides ready for plumbing.
These are the standard fitting for soft wash rigs, buffer tanks, chemical totes, mix stations and any poly tank that needs a feed or drain port.
Sizing and installation
- Sizes 1/2", 3/4", 1", 1.25", 1-1/2" and 2"
- Polypropylene body - will not corrode with bleach, acids or detergents
- Gasket seals against the tank wall
- Female pipe thread inside and out
Drill the hole to match the fitting body, not the thread size. Seat the gasket on the inside of the tank against a flat area, and hand tighten the lock nut plus a quarter turn - over-torquing distorts the gasket and causes the leak you are trying to prevent. On a curved tank wall, use a backing plate to give the gasket something flat to seal against.
