Complete Swivel Repair Kit for 5428, 5429, 6296 and 6752 Reels

Running four different reel models across three trucks is normal, and stocking parts for all of them is where it gets expensive. This complete swivel repair kit covers 5428, 5429, 6296 and 6752 reels with one part number. Keep a couple on the shelf and any leaking swivel in the fleet becomes a bench job instead of a truck sitting idle.

Features

  • One kit rebuilds swivels on four separate reel models
  • Goes further than an o-ring only repair when surfaces have worn
  • Cuts the number of part numbers you have to track
  • Restores a reel that is otherwise sound rather than replacing it
  • Small and light, so a spare costs you almost no shelf space

Choosing Between This and an O-Ring Kit

If the leak started this week, o-rings alone will probably handle it. If it has been dripping through a whole season, water has been running past a bad seal the entire time and polishing the surfaces it rides on. New rubber against a worn surface buys you a few weeks at best.

The tell is simple. Fresh leak, light repair. Old leak, full kit. When you cannot decide, take the bigger kit, because a second teardown costs more in labor than the parts ever will.

One more thing worth doing while you have it open. Wipe the mating surfaces clean and look at them under good light before anything goes back together. Grit left in a groove will cut a brand new seal on the first pressure cycle.

Common Questions

Does one kit rebuild one swivel?

Yes. Order one per swivel you plan to service, and think about a spare if you have several reels of these models in service.

Should I test it before the truck goes back out?

Always. Bring the system up at low pressure first and watch the swivel for weeping. Finding a problem in the shop costs you ten minutes. Finding it on site costs you the day.

Will this fit reels outside the four listed?

We only vouch for the models named here. Send us your reel model and we will tell you straight whether this is the right kit.

Find the Rest of the Job

When a rebuild cannot save the unit, our Hose Reels collection has replacements ready to compare. Smaller kits and individual seals are filed under Hose Reel Parts.
