Hose Stop for 3/8 in. Hose on Spring Rewind Reels
A hose stop is the little part that saves a big headache. It catches the line before a spring rewind yanks the end back into the drum, so you are not pulling the reel apart on the tailgate to fish it out. This one is sized for 3/8 in. hose. Any crew running spring rewind reels should have one on every line.

Where to Position It
Place the stop so a few feet of line sit past the roller guide once the reel has fully wound. That leaves something to grab when you start the next pull, and it keeps you from wrestling a hose end that has vanished inside the frame. Too close to the coupler and the spring slams the fitting on every rewind. Too far out and you have loose hose hanging where a tire can find it.
Match the size to the line you actually run. A stop meant for 3/8 in. hose will not do its job on a bigger diameter, and a loose stop slides under spring load right when you need it to hold. Give it a look during your weekly walkaround. If it has crept from where you set it, reset it and check the hose beneath for wear before you load up again.
Common Questions
What hose diameter is this for?
3/8 in.
Does it work on any style of reel?
It is meant for spring rewind reels, where the spring is what drives the hose back onto the spool.
Why not just let the hose wind all the way in?
Because the end pulls past the guide and into the drum, and getting it back usually means taking the reel apart on the spot.
