Pipe Plugs - Brass, Steel & 304 Stainless, Hex & Allen Head

A pipe plug closes off a male-threaded port you are not using - an unused outlet on a manifold, a spare port on an unloader block, a test point, or a fitting you need to seal for pressure testing. Male pipe thread, so it threads into a female port.

Hex head or Allen head?

Hex head plugs have external wrench flats. Easy to install and remove, but they stick out. Allen head (socket head) plugs sit flush or recessed and take a hex key - use them where the plug would otherwise catch on something, or where you want a lower profile.

Which material?

• Brass - general water and low pressure service, easy on threads
• Steel - high pressure discharge plumbing
• 304 stainless - chemical, bleach, salt and wash-down service

Use PTFE tape or pipe sealant on the threads. Do not over-torque a plug into a cast port.
