90 Degree Swivel With 1/2 Inch NPT Female Inlet

A weeping or seized inlet fitting will shut a reel down faster than almost anything else on the rig. This 90 degree swivel has a 1/2 inch NPT female inlet and carries a 200 deg rating, so it suits hot water work as well as cold. The right angle body turns the supply line where you need it instead of forcing a hard bend into the jumper hose.

Features

  • 90 degree body routes the supply line off to the side of the reel
  • 1/2 inch NPT female inlet
  • 200 deg rating covers hot water machines
  • Takes the sharp bend out of the jumper hose where it wears fastest
  • Common wear part, so keeping a spare on the shelf saves a lost afternoon
  • One pound listed weight, easy to carry as a spare in the truck box

Installing It Without Wrecking the Threads

Put sealant on the male threads going into the swivel and stop when it is snug and aligned. Chasing a small weep with more torque is how most of these get ruined, and a cracked body leaks worse than the drip you were trying to fix.

Use the right angle to your advantage. Bring the jumper in from the side so the hose leaves the fitting on a gentle curve rather than kinking right at the reel. Watch for two warning signs during the season, a drum that suddenly turns stiff and a drip at the inlet under pressure. Either one means replace the swivel now rather than in the middle of a job with a customer standing there.

Common Questions

What thread does the inlet use?

1/2 inch NPT female.

Can I run hot water through it?

It is rated to 200 deg, which covers typical hot water machine outlet temperatures. Stay within your machine ratings.

How do I know mine needs replacing?

Stiff rotation, a squeal when the drum turns or a leak at the inlet under pressure. Any of those is a swivel on the way out.
